Top rabbits: The Cole sisters of Jackson Township have won numerous honors at this year’s Porter County Fair as members of the Jackson Volunteers 4-H Club. Among their achievements are their rabbits. At left, Audrey holds Rusty, who won in the best opposite category. Autumn (center) holds Sundae, a Polish rabbit who took Best of Breed. At right, Emily holds Diamond, a silver marten who won Best of Breed.

Lucky llama: The llamas and some more traditional farm animals got lots of attention Thursday from children visiting the TSC Barnyard, a free farm animal exhibit at the Porter County 4-H Fair. Jaynie Waelde, 8, enjoyed close up visits with horses, pigs, sheep and this friendly llama. Jaynie is the daughter of Melissa Waelde, of Chesterton. Dive in! It’s a water tank filled with corn—all for the fun of the kids—at the Porter County 4-H Fair.
