Porter County Vicki Deppe has announced that her last day on the job will be Sunday, Feb. 28.

Deppe is resigning her post to accept a nursing position at a regional hospital.

Deppe told the Chesterton Tribune today that she has duly informed Porter County Democratic Party Chair Jeff Chidester of her effective resignation date and that a Democratic Party caucus to elect a person to complete her term of office has tentatively been scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 20.

Deppe took office in 2007. Her term expires Dec. 31, 2010.

Deppe, who has a master’s degree as an advanced practitioner nurse with prescriptive and diagnostic testing authority, will be working as a wound care specialist in her new position.

As a precinct committee member, Deppe will participate in the caucus vote to elect her successor.
