Visclosky wins, to face Leyva in November

Incumbent U.S. Rep. Pete Visclosky, running unopposed, will face his Republican opponent from two years ago, Mark Leyva.

The Indiana Secretary of State’s election results shows Democrat Visclosky with 133,939 votes. Leyva was the top vote getter among a field of five Republicans, with 7,272 votes. The other Republican contenders were Chuck Barman, 2,944; Mark Coleman, 3,934; Richard Holtz, 3,785; and Jayson Reeves, 2,167.

In Lake County Leyva polled 4,053 votes, to Holtz’s 1,612; Barman’s 1,554; Coleman’s 1,432; and Reeves’ 1,078.

In Porter County, on the other hand, Coleman came on top, with 1,656 votes; followed by Leyva with 1,488; Holtz with 1,174; Barman with 704; and Reeves with 529,
