Bryan Bullock ran strong in Porter County but was unable to overcome the Lake County advantage of incumbent State Rep. Charlie Brown, D-Gary.

In Porter County Brown took 2,484 votes or 52.85 percent, to Bullock’s 2,216 or 47.15 percent, in the Democratic primary for the 3rd House District seat.

In Lake County, however, Brown polled 7,725 votes or 67.8 percent, to Bullock’s 3,668 votes or 32.7 percent.

The 3rd House District stretches from Gary to northern Porter County, including a portion of Westchester and Washington townships and all of Pine and Jackson Townships. In Duneland Bullock managed to win four of 14 precincts.

At the moment no Republican has announced his or her candidacy and Brown is currently unopposed in the fall.
