A Westville man has died from injuries sustained on Friday, June 13, in a motorcycle accident on Ind. 2 in Washington Township, the Porter County Sheriff’s Police said.

Sgt. Larry LaFlower confirmed today that Jeremy A. Wier, 39, died on Wednesday at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Ill.

According to police, at 10:40 p.m. Wier and his wife, Karry, 41, riding behind him, were eastbound on Ind. 2, 200 feet north of Old Ind. 2, when Wier “suddenly lost control” of his 1998 Suzuki VS 1400 Series “for no apparent reason.”

Wier and his wife traveled off the roadway to the right and into a grassy area, continued another 100 feet, then entered a ditch and struck a fence on the other side of it at the edge of a field.

Wier sustained internal injuries over his entire body and was airlifted from the scene to Advocate Christ, police said. Karry Wier sustained injuries to her arms.

A witness riding behind Wier advised police that he noticed Wier’s motorcycle initially “drift to the left” and added that “it looked like his body went limp.” The motorcycle then drifted back to the right and off the roadway.
