One person was in custody and two others were being sought, in connection with a break-in at the Zao Island amusement center on Thursday night, Valparaiso Police said.

According to police, at 11:38 p.m. officers were dispatched to Zao Island, at 1050 Horseprairie Ave., after an alarm there was activated. Officer began checking the property and quickly spotted three male subjects “standing outside the go-cart building.”

Those three ran on seeing police.

The officers followed the suspects into a marsh southwest of Zao Island, police said. One of them was observed exiting the marsh in the area of Danvers Parkway and Rowley Street. He was taken into custody, identified as Darius Ginn, 18, of Valparaiso, and charged with criminal trespassing, resisting law enforcement, and minor consumption of alcohol, police said.

“Ginn was interviewed by police and confirmed being at Zao Island and attempting to remove a go-cart from the building,” police said.

Investigators have identified the other two suspects, against whom charges are pending, police said.
