The woman who died in a one-vehicle accident on Sunday in Burns Harbor has been identified.

Porter County Coroner Chuck Harris released the name of the victim on Monday afternoon: Patty Linson, 52, of South Bend.

According to the Burns Harbor Police Department, around 3 p.m. Linson was westbound on U.S. Highway 20--having just exited westbound I-94--when her vehicle left the roadway to the north and entered a ditch, then struck a utility box, flipped onto its roof, and collided with a vehicle parked in the Bosak Chevrolet dealership at 239 U.S. 20.

Burns Harbor and Chesterton firefighters performed a difficult extrication but Linson was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:13 p.m., Harris said.

The Portage Police Department is handling the crash reconstruction, while the results of a routine toxicology screen are pending.
