A South Haven home was struck by an SUV early Thursday morning, the Porter
County Sheriff’s Police said.
According to police, at 5:57 a.m. Joseph Tanner, 33, of Portage, crashed
through the home, in the 600 block of Newport Road, where an infant girl and
her parents were sleeping.
The infant was transported to Porter Portage Hospital Campus “to be checked
out,” police said.
Tanner and his passenger were transported to St. Mary Medical Center in
Hobart with non-life threatening injuries, police said.
“Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash and toxicology testing was
performed,” police said. “The results are pending.”
