Valpo Subway robbed

A man implying possession of a handgun robbed the Subway restaurant at 1659 U.S. Highway 30 in Valparaiso on Sunday, Valparaiso Police are reporting.

According to police, at 4:50 p.m. a man wearing latex gloves and carrying “an item wrapped in a plastic bag” entered the Subway and demanded money, advising the clerk that “he would shoot him if he did not comply.” The suspect was given an undetermined amount of cash, then fled the store, heading westbound.

The suspect was described as a white male, 5’ 10’’ in height and 150 pounds in weight, wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt and a yellow colored mask.

Police said that the investigation is ongoing and that detectives are working to determine if Sunday’s incident is connected to any other robberies in the region.
