Valpo RR crossings to be repaired in May and June

Back to Front Page

Canadian National Railroad will be replacing portions of their track at six grade-crossings in Valparaiso over the next several weeks.

Work at each crossing is expected to take about a week to complete.

The tentative schedule calls for construction to begin on Monday with the Sturdy Road crossing; the Roosevelt Road crossing during the week of May 26.

In early June Canadian National will do two crossings each week, beginning with Calumet Ave. and Washington Street and ending with Franklin Street and Lafayette Street.

The scope of the work includes replacing portions of the track, including rails and ties, at the crossings and extending for a distance in either direction. There will also be re-grading where necessary and the upgrade of drainage.
