A Valparaiso man was sentenced to six and a half years in federal prison after pleading guilty to one count of possession of child pornography, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Indiana is reporting.

Martin Knight, 38, was sentenced last week to 78 months in prison and five years of supervised probation, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

“According to documents in this case, between 2000 to 2012, Knight collected and possessed over 17,000 images and 300 videos depicting children engaging in sexually explicit conduct,” the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

The case was investigated by the FBI and the Indiana State Police.
