A homeless man living in a box truck in the parking lot of Lembke Glass
Company in Valparaiso burned to death on Friday, Valparaiso Police said.
The victim was identified as Wayne Trinosky, 58.
According to police, at 2:20 a.m. officers on patrol observed the large
delivery truck, parked in the Lembke lot at 151 Brown St., to be “fully
engulfed by fire,” and knowing that a male subject in the past had been
living in the truck they approached it.
There they found Trinosky on the ground next to the truck, police said. He
was pronounced dead at the scene with multiple burns.
Porter County Coroner Chuck Harris has determined cause of death to be
thermal burns. Harris told the Chesterton Tribune today that Trinosky
sustained burns to approximately 90 percent of his body.
Harris added that the fire apparently started inside the truck.
The Valparaiso Fire Department extinguished the blaze, police said, and the
VPD and VFD are investigating the cause of the fire.
