Valparaiso Walgreen's robbed of Oxycontin at gunpoint

Valparaiso Police are asking for the public’s help in its investigation of the armed robbery of the Walgreen’s pharmacy at 1903 Calumet Ave. on Saturday night.

According to police, at 9:33 p.m. a male subject entered the store, walked to the pharmacy counter, and then jumped over it, displaying a black handgun and demanding Oxycontin from the employees.

After being given a quantity of the painkiller, the man fled the store on foot in a southwest direction, police said.

A track by a K-9 unit proved unsuccessful.

Witnesses described the suspect as a white male in his mid-twenties to early thirties, 5’ 9” to 5’ 10” in height, with a medium build and blue eyes and wearing a dark colored jacket over a hooded sweat shirt. The suspect’s face was wrapped in a multi-colored scarf and he was wearing dark rimmed eye glasses.
