Valparaiso Police seek assistance after hit and run damages squad car

Valparaiso Police are seeking assistance identifying a vehicle that fled the scene of a crash after hitting a Valparaiso Police car.

On Tuesday morning at 3:53 a.m. a vehicle traveling westbound on Evans Rd. at Roosevelt Rd. disregarded the stop light and struck a Valparaiso Police car that was southbound on Roosevelt. After hitting the squad car the vehicle traveled through a grassy area and continued westbound on Evans Ave.

The vehicle leaving the scene was a small white compact car. Cameras from a nearby business caught images of the vehicle as it fled the scene westbound on Evans Ave. The officer was not injured but was unable to pursue the vehicle.

Police are seeking assistance with identifying the vehicle and identifying the possible driver of the vehicle. Anybody with information is asked to call the Valparaiso Police Department at 462-2135 (Detective Andrew McIntyre) or text a tip to Tip411 (847-411) and enter “Valpo” as the first word into the message filed prior to sending the tip.

The subjects were described as two black males between 20 yrs old and 30 yrs old carrying a duffel bag. One male was approximately 6’5” average build and weighing 210 lbs with short braided hair. The second subject was approximately 5’9” and 250 lbs.
