Back To Front Page

Valparaiso Police are investigating the theft and slaying of a dog.

According to police, at 6 p.m. Wednesday a resident of the 6 block of Dumas Street reported the theft of her white and red male pitbull named Dudley. On Thursday afternoon she advised police that she’d found Dudley’s body, decapitated, near a set of railroad tracks near her home.

Investigators are currently following up on leads provided by the victim, and the VPD said that they “do not believe, at this time, that this was a random incident.”

Anyone with information on the dog’s theft and killing is asked to contact the VPD’s Detective Bureau at (219) 462-2135 or text a tip to TIP411 (847-411) and enter “Valpo” as the first word in the message field prior to sending the information.
