A Union Township resident has pleaded guilty in federal court to a charge of
possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for
the Northern District of Indiana said.
Last week, Manolo Lopez-Ramirez, 26, pleaded guilty to that felony offense,
the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.
According to the criminal complaint, on June 26, 2012, an Indiana State
Police trooper found the following firearms in Lopez-Ramirez’s residence in
the 600 block of West U.S. Highway 30: a Ruger 9mm pistol, a Hi-Point 9mm
pistol, and Ruger .22 caliber rifle, and 651 rounds of assorted ammunition.
The complaint states that the Hi-Point was reported stolen by the Crawford,
Indiana, Police Department.
Lopez-Ramirez “admitted to being a Mexican National who entered the United
States illegally,” the complaint states.
