Porter County Sheriff officers responded to a serious injury crash on Tuesday, at around 9:06 p.m., involving two vehicles which met head-on near US Hwy. 6 and CR 75 West.

Initial investigation shows a green 1991 Pontiac Firebird, driven by 53 year old Portage resident (whose name is not being released at this time pending family notification) was traveling westbound on US 6, when the vehicle began to fishtail and went left of center.

The Pontiac then slid counter-clockwise and ran into an eastbound red 2003 Kia Sorento, driven by 43 year old Portage resident Sarah Goodenough.

Goodenough was unable to avoid the collision.

The driver of the Pontiac Firebird was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. Both subjects were transported to Porter Regional Hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the Pontiac Firebird was later airlifted to Christ Lutheran for internal injuries.

Witnesses following the Pontiac Firebird reported they observed the vehicle fish-tailing on the roadway prior to the crash. A warrant is being requested on the driver of the Pontiac Firebird for OWI Prior Level 6 Felony and OWI A-Misdemeanor for driving in a manner that endangers a person.
