Two hurt in 3 vehicle accident on Indiana 49

Two persons were injured on Friday in a three-vehicle accident on Ind. 49, Chesterton Police said.

According to police, at 3:26 p.m. Debra F. Jones, 59, of South Holland, Mich., was southbound on Ind. 49 when she rear-ended a second vehicle stopped for a red light at the intersection of Indian Boundary Road. The impact of the collision drove the second vehicle into the rear of a third, police said.

The driver of the second vehicle was Taylor J. McKinley, 21, of Westville. The driver of the third vehicle was Christopher B. Strom, 29, of Portage.

Police said that Jones complained of chest pain and her passenger, Paul Durden, 43, also of South Holland, of neck pain.

Police estimated total damage to Jones’ 2004 Nissan Altima, McKinley’s 2014 Chevrolet Equinox, and Strom’s 2007 Honda Civic at up to $25,000.
