Due to the sub-zero temperatures and bitter wind chills in the forecast, the Chesterton Tribune will not publish on Wednesday, Jan. 30.

The Tribune’s offices will also be closed.

The main reason: the danger posed by the cold to walking route carriers.

The Tribune will publish as usual on Thursday, Jan. 31, and its offices re-open at 8 a.m.

Trash Pickup to be Delayed

In Chesterton, Republic Services will not be collecting refuse and recycling on Wednesday, Street Commissioner John Schnadenberg announced at Monday night’s Town Council meeting.

Schnadenberg said that the firm is concerned about the safety of its employees and the effect of the cold on the garbage truck’s hydraulics.
