Thieves have hit two more telecommunication towers in Duneland, one in Pine Township, the other in Jackson Township, the Porter County Sheriff’s Police is reporting.

According to police, sometime prior to 9:28 a.m. Wednesday someone cut the lock off a gated cell tower facility on C.R. 600N in Jackson Township, then cut the lock off a work trailer and removed a variety of power tools, hand tools, and socket sets belonging to Communications Infrastructure of Austin, Texas.

The PCSP did not provide a total estimate of the loss but a company employee put the replacement cost at “several thousands of dollars,” police said.

Then, sometime prior to 2:22 p.m. Wednesday, someone cut the lock off the gate at a cell tower facility on C.R. 500E in Pine Township, then pried open a pair of A/C units and removed two 10-foot sections of copper piping, police said.

Police put that loss at $100.

These incidents come a little over a week after thieves forcibly entered a cell tower facility on C.R. 850N in Liberty Township, pried open a pair of A/C units serving it, and removed four rolls of copper wiring. Police put total loss and damage in that theft at $16,000.
