A 16-year-old girl was arrested Sept. 12 at the Marriot Courtyard in
Valparaiso on a delinquency charge of prostitution, the Porter County
Prosecuting Attorney’s Office said in a statement released after deadline on
Friday.
The arrest was made by the Porter County Drug Task Force.
“During a routine review of the ‘escort services’ section of an on-line
Internet classified-ad site, agents learned that the woman was advertising
sexual services in Porter County,” the statement said. “Agents arranged for
her to come to the Marriot and she was arrested shortly after arriving and
attempting to negotiate for sexual services.”
The girl was detained at the Porter County Juvenile Detention Center pending
the filing of a delinquency petition, the statement said.
“Prosecuting Attorney Brian Gensel, whose offices supervised the activities
of the Drug Task Force, stated that agents are monitoring escort service
advertisements on the Internet and that soliciting for prostitution in
Porter County will be investigated and prosecuted.”
