firefighters responded to the rollover of a steel hauler early this morning
on an I-94 off-ramp.
Deputy Fire Chief
Nate Williams told the Chesterton Tribune today that the rollover
occurred around 2:26 a.m. as the semi was exiting eastbound I-94 for
southbound Ind. 49. The rig appears to have rolled all the way over, coming
to rest upright, but in the process dumped its two coils.
sustained minor injuries and was transported to hospital, Williams said, but
no one else was hurt in the crash.
Besides losing its
coils, the semi also sprang a diesel leak, prompting the CFD to notify the
Porter County Environmental Departmentís on-call hazmat team, Williams said.
The CFD cleared the
scene at 4:15 a.m.
