State Police warn drivers to beware of far left lane on East Bound I-94 in Lake County

The Indiana State Police is warning motorists on eastbound I-80/94 in Lake County to beware of the current lane configuration between the Kennedy Ave. and I-65/Central Ave. exits.

On Saturday the ISP reported that the far left eastbound lane--an express or dedicated lane beginning at Kennedy Ave.--has no exits prior to the I-65/Central Ave. exit. Once motorists enter the far left express lane, they cannot exit on southbound I-65.

This configuration has been prompting motorists to make dangerous lane changes, the ISP said.

Motorists desiring to exit onto southbound I-65 southbound must avoid the far left express lane and remain instead in the three right lanes of travel. The far left express lane configuration will remain in effect through November 2017.
