A Portage motorist was injured on Wednesday after she lost control on
I-80/94 in Lake County, the Indiana State Police said.
According to police, at 10:05 a.m. Shelby Street, 56, was merging onto
eastbound I-80/94 from southbound I-65 when she lost control on the icy road
surface. Streetís 2000 Mercury Grand Prix left the Interstate to the right
and flipped over the retaining wall, landing on its roof, police said.
Street, who was wearing her seatbelt, had to be extricated from her car. She
was transported to Saint Maryís Medical Center in Hobart with non-life
threatening injuries to her face, police said.
The Mercury was a total loss.
