State Police lift ban on oversized loads

Back To Front Page

The Indiana State Police have lifted the travel restriction on oversized loads which had been in effect since the winter storm socked the state.

“Conditions have significantly improved over the last 24 hours,” the ISP said in a statement released just before deadline.

Nevertheless, the general oversized-load provision applies at all times, namely, “Permitted oversized vehicles are not allowed to operate during hazardous weather, road, or traffic conditions, and/or when visibility is less than 500 feet. Permitted vehicles may not operate when wind velocity exceeds 25 miles per hour.”

Oversized load operators shall adhere to M-204 provisions as listed at www.in.gov/dor/files/m204.pdf
