Chesterton Police are investigating the robbery on Thursday of the Speedway at 752 Indian Boundary Road.

According to police, around 3 a.m. a male subject had entered the store, milled around a bit, then bought a Reese’s Fastbreak candy bar, using all coins. The man subsequently left the store but returned at 3:14 a.m., when this time he demanded the money in the register and threatened the clerk with violence if she resisted, police said.

The man then left the store with an undetermined amount of cash and fled “on foot in a westerly direction.”

A K-9 track was unsuccessful.

The suspect was described as a while male, 5’ 9’’ to 6’ 0’’ in height and around 180 pounds in weight, wearing a gray hoodie sweatshirt, jogging pants, and a white baseball cap.

Investigators are reviewing surveillance camera tape of the incident.
