Snow warning: Park off street; don't shovel into roads

Back To Front Page

With the heaviest snow of the season on its way, Chesterton Street Commissioner John Schnadenberg is asking residents to move their vehicles off the roadway and into their driveways.

Off-street parking makes plowing easier, far more efficient, and safer, Schnadenberg said.

Schnadenberg is also reminding folks that blowing or shoveling snow into the street is a violation of Town Code punishable by a fine of up to $100.

During the snowfall itself, plow drivers will concentrate first on keeping the main roads open and then on making single passes through the subdivisions. After the snow has ended, the plows will hit the side streets and clear them back to the curbs.
