Chesterton Police are investigating the smash-and-grab burglary of TNT Gaming at 209 Broadway in the Downtown.

According to police, sometime between 10 p.m. Friday and 10:52 a.m. Saturday someone used an unknown object to break the glass of the business’ front door. “It appeared that the suspect had attempted to break it with an object twice, then shattered it on the third try,” police said.

Once inside, the suspect stole 233 miscellaneous Xbox games (with an estimated value of $60 per game), one Xbox video game system, three Xbox game controllers, a Heroclix collectible figure, and $200 in currency from the cash register.

In addition to the front door, a clear plastic display shelf was also damaged.

Police put the total loss at $15,369.91.

Chesterton Bicycle Station

During the same time frame--late Friday to early Saturday--someone made an unsuccessful effort to force entry into the Chesterton Bicycle Station at 116 S. Fourth Street, two blocks west of TNT Gaming.

At 9:49 a.m. on Saturday, an employee of the business discovered damage done to the front window by a concrete block.

“It appears that the block was thrown twice in an attempt to gain entry,” police said. “However, the double pane window did not break all the way.”

Police estimated damage at $2,000.
