On Halloween night, Tuesday Oct. 31, several Porter County Sheriff’s Police deputies worked an extra detail to complete Sex Offender checks.

Capt. Larry Sheets, who manages the Sex Offender Registry for the Sheriff’s Office, reported that 90 offenders were checked. Of those, only one was found to be in violation, charges for which are pending.

Sheets said that additional checks will be completed throughout the week and weekend, to talk with registered sex offenders who were not at home on Halloween night.
