A Chesterton man is wanted by Valparaiso Police in connection with the
robbery earlier this winter of a Valparaiso man waiting to transact a drug
According to police, on March 26 a 19-year-old Valparaiso man reported that,
earlier in the day, he had been robbed by two subjects while sitting in his
car in Kirchhoff Park. The two, their faces covered by bandanna, punched him
in the face through the vehicle’s window, then pulled him out and took his
wallet and $120, the man advised. The pair was last seen fleeing eastbound
on foot through the park.
Police said that the man sustained minor facial injuries as a result of the
VPD Det. Dave Castellanos, however, subsequently determined that the
19-year-old man had been waiting to conduct a drug deal with another man
when robbed and that the two subjects stole not only his money but his
marijuana, police said.
A charge of robbery has been filed against Aric Deangelis, 19, of
Chesterton, and a warrant issued for his arrest, police said.
A delinquency charge of robbery has been filed against a 17-year-old
Valparaiso boy who had been previously detained at the Porter County
Juvenile Detention Center on an unrelated charge, police said.
