Charges of rape and battery against a Porter man have been dismissed, Porter
Police said.
Paul William Hake, 60, was arrested on June 5 on those charges after a
25-year-old homeless woman whom he employed for cleaning and caretaking
services accused him of raping her and striking her.
But Porter Police said in a statement released on Thursday that those
charges were dismissed by Porter County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office after
“additional inquiries determined inconsistencies” in the alleged victim’s
statements.
The investigation is continuing into those inconsistencies, Porter Police
said.
