A Porter man and a Michigan City woman have been charged with dealing
heroin, the Porter County Drug Task Force (DTF) said.
Arrest warrants have been issued on the Class B felony charge—punishable by
a term of six to 20 years—against Dustin Agent, 29, of 327 Indiana St., and
Debra Williams, DTF Coordinator Bob Taylor told the Chesterton Tribune
today.
According to the DTF, on Aug. 4 a confidential informant (CS) arranged for
the purchase of heroin from an associate of Agent, who first put the meeting
at the gas station at U.S. Highway 6 and North Calumet Ave., then called the
CS en route to change the location to the Luke’s station at U.S. 6 and
Meridian Road, where Agent told the CS to look for an older model black
Chevrolet SUV.
On arriving at the Luke’s, DTF said, the CS located the designated vehicle,
occupied by a male and a female, the latter later identified as Debra
Williams. The CS handed Williams five $20 bills—which had been previously
photographed—and Williams handed the CS a tobacco tin which DTF said
contained five individual baggies full of white powder. The powder—-0.4
grams per baggy—field tested positive for the presence of heroin, police
said.
After the deal, DTF said, the CS called Agent and told him that the quality
of the product was good. Agent replied, “That’s because it’s my (product),”
DTF said.
At deadline today, Williams was being held at the Porter County Jail but
Agent was not yet in custody, Taylor said.
