Breaking News:

From the Porter County Sheriff's Police: At approximately 3:52 PM, Porter County Sheriff's Police responded to a vehicle that crashed into a ditch on Marigold Lane, and was occupied with a female that appeared intoxicated. As an officer was pulling into the area at approximately 4:15 PM trying to locate the vehicle in the ditch, he located a male subject alongside the roadway at 1902 Crescent RD that had just been stabbed by the female driver from the crash. The male subject, Robert Gottschling 64 years old from Valparaiso, had life threatening stab wounds to his chest and cuts to his hands and face. Mr. Gottschling was taken to Porter Regional Hospital, where he was undergoing surgery at the time of this release.

The female subject, Billie Jo Moore 49 years old from Valparaiso, was taken into custody near the crime scene and transported to Porter Regional Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Testing performed at the hospital indicated that Ms. Moore had cocaine and cannabis in her system. The initial investigation indicates that after Ms. Moore crashed into the ditch on Marigold Lane, she walked over to Crescent Road where Mr. Gottschling lived and approached him while he was outside getting his mail. Ms. Moore asked to use his telephone and Mr. Gottschling allowed her inside the residence to use his telephone. Shortly after being let inside Mr. Gottschling's residence, Ms. Moore grabbed a fixed blade knife from the kitchen table and went into the living room and attacked Mr. Gottschling for unknown reasons.

Billie Jo Moore is being charged with Aggravated Battery - B Felony. She will be held without bond in Porter County Jail until her initial court appearance at the end of the week.
