Portage police are asking the publicís help in locating two suspects believed to be involved in the robbery of Low Bobís Discount Tobacco Store at 3456 Willowcreek Road on Sunday afternoon.

The suspects names are Garland P. Jeffers, Jr., 42, and Roscoe D. McClendon, 49, and are known to have ties to Gary. A third unknown suspect is also being sought.

Following an investigation with assistance from the Gary Police Department Crime Supression Unit, Gary SWAT Team, Gary Narcotics & Vice Unit and the Porter County Drug Task Force, police said they located the vehicle used in the robbery and spoke with a person who rented the car from a Milwaukee, Wis., rental agency.

Police said earlier this week two black males entered the tobacco store at approximately 5:50 p.m. on Sunday and ordered two employees to lie face down on the ground while they reportedly stole cigarettes and cash from the register. The employees advised that at least one suspect was armed with a handgun, police said.

Anyone who has information regarding the whereabouts of the suspects is asked to contact Portage Det. Capt. Joe Reynolds at 219-762-3122.
