Portage Police are interested in talking to a man in a gray pickup truck about a shotgun reported lost on Saturday.

That shotgun—a Beretta autoloader Model 390St in a green zippered case—fell off the back of its owner’s truck somewhere between Savanna Heights and Nativity Church on Willowcreek Road. When the owner discovered it missing, he re-traced his route but was unable to find the weapon.

Now Portage PD is saying that a witness saw the driver of a Dodge Ram pickup—gray in color, with an extended cab and a soft cover—pick up the shotgun and drive away.

The man was described as a white male, heavyset and bald.

Police are warning whoever took the shotgun that it has a “reverse trigger” and only discharges after the trigger is pulled and then released.

Anyone with information about the man in question is asked to call Det. Sgt. Nick Grynovich at 762-3122.
