Portage Police are interested in talking to a man in a gray pickup truck
about a shotgun reported lost on Saturday.
That shotgun—a Beretta autoloader Model 390St in a green zippered case—fell
off the back of its owner’s truck somewhere between Savanna Heights and
Nativity Church on Willowcreek Road. When the owner discovered it missing,
he re-traced his route but was unable to find the weapon.
Now Portage PD is saying that a witness saw the driver of a Dodge Ram
pickup—gray in color, with an extended cab and a soft cover—pick up the
shotgun and drive away.
The man was described as a white male, heavyset and bald.
Police are warning whoever took the shotgun that it has a “reverse trigger”
and only discharges after the trigger is pulled and then released.
