A Portage man was shot to death Thursday at his residence in the 2700 block
of Locust Street.
Porter County Coroner Chuck Harris identified the victim as Carl Griffith
Sr., 72.
PPD Sgt. Keith Hughes told the Chesterton Tribune today that officers
found Griffith in the front yard of his home, after Griffith’s son reported
shots being fired.
CPR was conducted on Griffith at the scene and he was then transported to an
unspecified hospital, where he died sometime later.
Hughes was unable to provide more information this morning except to say
that detectives spent the night interviewing Griffith’s family and friends.
Harris, for his part, said that Griffith was shot multiple times with an
unknown firearm. A forensic autopsy was pending.
The investigation is ongoing.
