The Portage branch of Chase Bank was robbed on Wednesday by an armed man, Portage Police said.

No one was injured in the robbery.

According to police, at 11:47 a.m. a male subject entered the bank--located at the intersection of Willowcreek Road and Lute Road--handed the teller a note, and then lifted his sweatshirt to reveal a handgun tucked into his waistband.

After being handed an undetermined amount of currency, the suspect left the bank, heading east on foot to the Breckenridge Apartments, where he was seen entering a black Dodge Charger. The Charger fled the scene eastbound on Lute Road.

The suspect was described as a white male, aged 20 to 30, approximately 6 0 in height, wearing a ball cap and a Chicago Bears sweatshirt. Investigators believe the Dodge Charger was occupied by two other subjects, one of them a female; and that all three were at the Wal-Mart prior to the robbery.

Anyone with information about the suspects or the robbery is urged to call Capt. Joe Reynolds at 764-5704.
