Portage Police are warning the public about the tricky firing mechanism of a
shotgun reported lost on Saturday.
According to police, the owner of the shotgun—a Beretta autoloader Model
390ST in a green zippered padded case—discovered that weapon had fallen out
of the back of his truck bed somewhere between Savanna Heights and the
Nativity Church on Willowcreek Road. The owner retraced his route, 15
minutes after finding the shotgun missing, but was unable to locate it.
Portage PD noted the following about the weapon: it is equipped with a
“reverse trigger” and only discharges after the trigger is pulled and then
released.
If you’ve found the shotgun, contact Det. Sgt. Nick Grynovich at 762-3122.
