The Porter County Sheriff’s Police is seeking the public’s help in identifying the two men who invaded a home in Pine Township on Tuesday and beat its occupants.

According to police, at 4:20 a.m. two male subjects knocked on the door of a residence in the 1500 north block of C.R. 375E and, when the homeowner answered, forced their way in. The suspects, armed with a crowbar and using their fists as well began to hit the occupants: a 37-year-old male, his 14 year-old-daughter, his 11-year-old son, and his 37-year-old girlfriend, police said.

The suspects fled the residence a short time later, in an unknown direction.

All of the occupants sustained contusions from the beating.

“We don’t believe that this a random act,” police emphasized, “and therefore there is no reason for the public to be alarmed.”

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Det. Sgt. Tim Manteuffel at (219) 477-3131 or WeTip at (800) 782-7463. WeTip offers a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of any suspects involved.
