Back To Front Page

The Union Township pilot of a single-engine airplane escaped injury this morning when his plane rolled over on the runway after landing at the Porter County Regional Airport, the Porter County Sheriff’s Police said.

According to police, at 9:51 a.m. Carl Lane, 54--the holder of a valid pilot’s license--had just landed his 1947 Stinson 108-2, all wheels down, when a strong west wind pushed the pane off the runway.

The Stinson then rolled over, police said.

Assisting the PCSP at the scene were the Washington Township Fire Department and Porter EMS.

The FAA will be handling the investigation, police said.
