Chesterton Police said that two counterfeit $100 bills were passed at the
Kmart at 750 Indian Boundary Road on Saturday.
According to
police, around 8 p.m. a male subject purchased a $195 “MoneyPak” card, a can
of soda pop, some chewing gum, and a computer disk, paying with two $100
bills, a $10 bill, and two singles. The clerk advised that a marker check
indicated both $100 bills to be genuine but that, later in the evening, she
began to have doubts, and on checking further observed the water mark inside
the two $100 bills to read “USA FIVE.”
The clerk
described the suspect as a black male, around 6’ 2’’ in height with a thin
build, very short hair, wearing a dark colored shirt and jeans. The CPD took
the two counterfeit bills into evidence.
