PFD responds to US 12 crash by Dune Park Station

The Porter Fire Department responded to a two-vehicle accident early this morning in U.S. Highway 12 near the South Shore commuter lineís Dune Park Station.

Deputy Fire Chief Jay Craig told the Chesterton Tribune that, at 5:45 a.m., an eastbound vehicle collided with a westbound vehicle in front of the station.

The driver of one of the vehicles was unhurt in the crash but that of the other, a woman, did sustain non-life threatening injuries and was transported to hospital after firefighters performed a minor extrication, namely, popping her driverís door, which had been stuck closed by front-end damage.

The PFD--assisted at the scene by the Chesterton FD--cleared the scene shortly before 7 a.m.
