Porter firefighters transported a 17-year-old Highland girl from Indiana Dunes State Park on Sunday, after she suffered a medical incident.

Deputy Fire Chief Jay Craig told the Chesterton Tribune today that, a 4:41 p.m., the PFD responded to Trail 8 at Dunes State Park in response to a report of a girl’s passing out. Several firefighters hiked out to Trail 8 and succeeded in locating the girl between Mt. Jackson and Mt. Holden, two of the dunes in the Three Dunes Challenge, Craig said.

The girl was then transported out on an all-terrain vehicle and taken to hospital for treatment of an unknown condition, Craig said.

The PFD cleared the scene at 5:45 p.m.
