A Valparaiso woman and a Lake Station woman were arrested Monday on multiple drug charges, on the premises in Portage Township of what appears to have been a “one-pot” methamphetamine lab, the Porter County Sheriff’s Police is reporting.

Lynn Smith, 30, of Valparaiso, was initially charged with maintaining a common nuisance, possession of a hypodermic needle, possession of marijuana, and possession of paraphernalia, police said; while Rachelle Logsdon, 33, of Lake Station, was charged with possession of a hypodermic, possession of marijuana, visiting a common nuisance, and possession of paraphernalia.

According to police, at 11:20 a.m. deputies were attempting to serve a warrant on a male subject believed to be residing in the Meadow View Mobile Home Community, and while checking the residence--with the homeowners’ consent--they observed “several items of narcotic paraphernalia in plain sight.”

They also observed “additional items,” including “chemicals and precursors consistent with a ‘one-pot’ methamphetamine lab,” police said.

The Indiana State Police’s Mobile Clandestine Lab unit responded to the scene and removed all items, police said.

“Additional charges may be pending as ISP completes its investigation,” police added. “The male subject was later located at another location by officers and taken into custody without incident.”
