The Porter County Sheriff’s Police has identified the victim of Monday’s stabbing in a residence in the 500 east block of Carriage Lane in Jackson Township.

Gordon Ray Sharkey III, 21, of Lowell, was transported after the incident to Methodist Hospital Northlake Campus in Gary with “serious injuries.”

The other party, a 21-year-old Jackson Township man, was interviewed by detectives and “has been cooperative,” the PCSP said, and “all information will be forwarded to the Prosecutor’s Office for review.”

The stabbing occurred in the early morning hours on Monday and the PCSP emphasized that it “was an isolated incident between the victim and the other party” and “in no way related” to an earlier stabbing which occurred a week ago, on Monday, Oct. 22, in Center Township.

“There is no cause for alarm to the public regarding any random acts of violence,” the PCSP said.
