The Porter County Sheriff’s Police has received a second report of an unknown subject’s throwing a rock at a vehicle traveling on U.S. Highway 6 in Jackson Township.

According to police, at 12:44 p.m. Monday a motorist was westbound in the 400 east block of U.S. 6 when--in the area of Anderson’s Orchard & Winery--someone dressed in black standing by the side of the road threw what appears to have been a rock at his vehicle.

The motorist advised police that he “instinctively ducked and when he heard a thump looked up and saw damage to his windshield.”

In addition to the damage to the windshield, the projectile left a scratch and hole in the hood, police said. Damage was estimated at $1,200.

This complaint follows one made at 2:04 a.m. Sunday when--as the Chesterton Tribune reported in Monday’s edition--a motorist westbound in the 500 east block of U.S. 6 threw a rock at her vehicle, breaking the windshield and damaging the hood. Total estimated damage, police said: $900.

Sunday’s complainant described the suspect as a male subject who was “heavier set” and wearing a “dark-colored hoodie.”
