A motorist was injured on Wednesday in a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Broadway and Jackson Blvd., the Chesterton Fire Department is reporting.

Capt. Tony Coslet told the Chesterton Tribune this morning that, at 2:02 p.m., the CFD responded to the scene and assisted EMS personnel with transporting the motorist to hospital with minor injuries.

The Chesterton Police Department has not yet released its report on the crash but Coslet said that it appeared as though the motorist, driving a passenger vehicle, drove into the side of a garbage truck.

The intersection of Broadway and Jackson Blvd. is a two-way stop with motorists east- and westbound on Broadway having the right of way and those north- and southbound on Jackson Blvd. having stop signs.

The CFD cleared the scene at 2:24 p.m.
