The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) is alerting drivers to narrowed travel lanes on U.S. 30, between Industrial Drive in Valparaiso and U.S. Highway 241 in Wanatah.

The narrowed lanes go into effect on April 17 and will remain in effect through early October, INDOT.

Crews will be milling the old roadway and shoulders, then adding a fresh coat of asphalt.

“During the project, U.S. 30 will remain open to all through traffic, but traffic will be narrowed to two 11 foot lanes in both directions.,” INDOT said. “Motorists should expect periodic delays and allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to the signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.”

The $6-million project has been awarded to Walsh & Kelly.
