A Gary resident was arrested on multiple charges on Saturday following a traffic stop on U.S. Highway 12 in Porter County, the Indiana State Police said.

According to police, at 11 p.m. Diondray Gill, 27, was stopped on U.S. 12 near Porter/Lake County Line Road for an improper headlight. Police said that Gill provided several false names before finally giving his true name, at which point he was taken into custody on a charge of false informing.

Police said that a loaded Taurus .22 caliber handgun was also recovered from under his driverís seat, leading to a charge of possession of a handgun without a permit.

In addition, Gill was wanted on three outstanding warrants--one charging him with kidnapping/criminal confinement with a nationwide extradition--and was operating without ever having obtained a driverís license, police said.

Gill was transported to Porter County Jail.
