A motorcyclist was injured Sunday in a three-vehicle accident on I-94 near
Chesterton, the Indiana State Police said.
According to police, at 3:16 p.m. Evelyn A. Bailey, 76, of
Chicago Ridge, Ill., driving a 2006 Buick, was westbound in the center lane
when she rear-ended a 2013 GMC Yukon, driven by Timothy Pendell, 53, of
Linden, Mich., approximately two miles east of the Porter/Burns Harbor
Bailye herself was then rear-ended by motorcyclist Louis Brown Jr., 56, of
Gary, who was ejected from his 2006 Yamaha and landed on the Interstate.
Brown--who was wearing his helmet--was transported to Porter Regional
Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Both Pendell and Bailye were
wearing seatbelts and neither was injured, police said.
The Porter, Burns Harbor, and Portage fire departments all responded to the
scene, Porter Fire Chief Lewis Craig told the Chesterton Tribune
today. Portage EMS personnel transported Brown while Burns Harbor EMS
checked out three others at the scene, Craig said. No extrication was
